Different types of online casinos

You would think that all online casino operators are the same or similar, and while you would be correct for some features, it is very incorrect for most others.

If you spend a decent amount of time on various operators you will notice very obvious differences between them. You may prefer the look and feel of one, or you will notice some may have a much bigger variety of games to others. One very important difference you may experience is your preferred payment method may not be accepted.

Another big difference is that each operator will handle their bonuses and offers differently to each other. You may find a very good bonus but later find out that you cannot withdraw until something called a "wageringRequirement" is met.  A wagering requirement simple means you have to bet a certain amount before you are allowed to withdraw, usually between 20%-50% of the bonus amount. So be sure to look out for this before accepting any bonus.

Typically each operator will display their deposit and withdrawal methods on a FAQ page, so be sure to check that out!

Here are a couple examples of other casinos to check out - Lucky Tiger , Mr Green and Mansion Casino

What does it mean to be a regulated Online Casino?

Prior to November, 2014, operaters that provided gambling services to people in the UK were often regulated and licensed in the European Union, with Malta and Gibraltar. 15% or less of these were regulated and licensed by the UK Gambling Commission.

Then when the Gambling (Licensing & Advertising) Act in 2014 was enforced, it required all remote operators to each hold a licence from the UK Gambling Commission. The purpose of this change was to protect UK players by making the regulation of these companies consistent.

Each of these operators must adhere to strict standards in order to both obtain and keep its UK Gambling Commission license. These standards include testing its Random Number Generator software to verify that its games and payouts are fair.

Gambling brands also need to clearly inform customers about how their funds are being protected and comply with policies and practices aimed at tackling fraud and money-laundering. They must also enforce the social responsibility of preventing minors from gambling and act to prevent compulsive gambling.

How Online Casinos different in games and graphics

If you have noticed striking similarities between different casinos, this could be due to the same software provider providing many of the same games, look and feel for all of their customers. It is very rare for an operater to use software that it has developed itself. Third-party operators usually supply the software. Some of the most respected and well-known software providers in the industry include Playtech, Microgaming and NetEnt.

As these companies tend to supply this software to numerous operators, strong similarities can result between casinos; however, there can remain precise differences in the game selections or the look and feel of a site, Particularly colors and themes or mascots. While most features are usually set in stone, they give operators some leeway to make their brand their own. You should be able to trust that a reputable provider's software is stable and reliable.

If an operator uses a low number of software providers, this does not necessarily mean that the game selection is narrow, as some providers offer a much broader range of games than others. The reputation of the providers, rather than their number, should hold greater weight in your thoughts.

Different game types casinos

Casino Operators usually offer a wide selection of games. These include games like 3 reels slots, blackjack, roulette, baccarat, poker and more, and sometimes even tournaments. At every casino, there are many variations and game types that are exclusive to one or a few specific casinos. Make sure the site you choose has the games that suit and entertain you. Popular game types include, but are not limited to:

  • Roulette - Roulette, one of the most popular games, sees players bet on where a ball will fall on a revolving wheel. The odds and excitement can vary across multiple variations of roulette, which include European roulette, French roulette and American roulette.

  • Blackjack - In blackjack, players aim to obtain cards, the total face value of which is exactly 21. Online blackjack is especially exciting for offering bonuses on deposits, unlike the blackjack that is commonly available at standard land-based casinos.

  • Slots - These are the most frequently played games at both online casinos and their brick-and-mortar equivalents. Online, however, you can play slots games in a more streamlined way and enjoy a near-limitless number of bonuses. You get a wide range of slots from 3-reels to 6-reels as well as progressive slots.

  • Live casino - This recreates the feeling of a land-based casino by providing a live video feed of a human, rather than computerised, dealer. You can interact with this dealer and watch them as they arrange components on the table. Here are our favourite live casinos online.
